School Admission Arrangements for the School Year 2027/28

1.0

 

PURPOSE OF REPORT

 

1.1

 

 

 

To enable Council to consider the appended report ‘School Admission Arrangements for the School Year 2027/28’ as recommended to Council by the Executive at their meeting on 6 January 2026.

 

2.0       BACKGROUND

 

2.1       On 6 January 2026, the Executive considered the appended report ‘School Admission Arrangements for the School Year 2027/28’ and recommended it to Council at their meeting on 13 February 2026.

 

2.2       The minutes of the meeting of the Executive on 6 January 2026 are available here - Printed minutes Tuesday 06-Jan-2026 11.00 Executive.pdf

 

2.3       As the Admission Authority for all Community and Voluntary Controlled schools in North Yorkshire the Council must have agreed admission arrangements that govern the allocation of school places in place by the 28 February each year to apply to admission applications for the following school year. This is to comply with legislation, and to regulations that are set out in the School Admissions Code, 2021.

RECOMMENDATIONS

That the proposed Admission Arrangements for 2027/2028 be approved by Council, including: -

 

  • The proposed co-ordinated admission arrangements
  • The proposed co-ordinated in-year admission arrangements
  • The proposed admission policy for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools
  • The proposed admission policy for Ripon Grammar Boarding School
  • The proposed admission policy for Community and Voluntary Controlled Nursery Schools, Schools with Nursery Classes and Pre-Reception Classes
  • The proposed published admission numbers (PAN’s) for community and voluntary controlled schools.

 

That the relevant areas for consultation on the School Admission Arrangements remain unchanged.
